Are my children able to visit?

Yes! If your children are not currently living with you in the sober home, you may have scheduled visitation with them.

Can I smoke at my sober home?

Yes, smoking cigarettes is permitted as long as you are outside.

What is the criteria or process for placement in a sober home?

In order to live in our sober housing, you must be attending our OP program. Please see admission process in the OP FAQs.


Do I get my own room?

This would depend on what space is available and how many children will be living with you.

What are the Covid precautions?

ANEW supports MDH and CDC guidelines and recommends that all clients get vaccinated. Masks are required in our organizations building at 445 Etna Street but not in the sober homes.

Will I be allowed to take overnights?

For the first 30 days you will not be allowed to take overnights - After 30 days you can earn up to 2 overnights per week.

How long can I stay in sober housing?

You can stay in our housing for up to 2 years as long as you are following the rules and attending programming.

Can I work while living in sober housing and going to outpatient?

We do not allow our clients to work for at least 30 days. If you do start working after 30 days, you will be required to pay towards your room and board. This is a requirement of the State and not something that can be negotiated. The amount you would pay depends on the hours you work and how much income you make.

Can I live in ANEW’s sober housing if I am currently utilizing Medication Assisted Therapy?

Yes, ANEW does allow clients to utilize Methadone, Suboxone, Subutex, Sublocaid if prescribed. These medications must be in a lock box.
